This artisanal handcrafted brooch perfectly merges traditional Yi ethnic hand embroidery, retro metal craft and delicate faux pearl detail, inspired by the native Rhododendron (Yinghua / Ma Ying Flower) blooming across Yunnan’s mountainous land.   At its core sits a hand-stitched layered Ma Ying blossom, entirely finished by experienced Yi craftswomen using age-old padded fill stitch. Gradient blush and deep rose pink threads form curved overlapping petals, while the flower’s core is vividly filled with red, golden yellow and turquoise floss to recreate the natural colorful bloom of wild mountain rhododendron; a polished round pearl is fixed at the blossom’s center as an eye-catching focal accent, and the whole embroidered patch is neatly edged with thick black stitching to lock fabric threads.
