This problem is solved by moving the yarn strands instead of the carrier so that the carrier can follow a simple circular path. The yarn guides are located in two counter-rotating rings, and a lever arm driven by a cam guides the yarn strands from the outer ring up and down between the yarn guides of the inner ring. Since the mass of the lever arm is much smaller than the bobbin and bracket, the machine can run faster.
